Beyond the Gaze (BtG)
Beyond the Gaze (BtG) was a successful 3-year research project (2015-2018) led by Professor Teela Sanders of the University of Leicester. The project examined 'how the internet shaped the 21st Century adult commercial sex industry in the UK' and the role of regulation. BtG mapped online sex work and examined working conditions, safety and regulation. Teela and her team produced several briefing summaries for Practitioners, Police, and about Clients, as well as a project video that shares data and insights into the nature and prevalence of online adult sex work in the UK.
The NUM Research and Development (R&D) Team of 'experts by experience' utilise creative and multi-media methods to package and disseminate BtG research findings and tips and strategies for safer online sex work among diverse populations of internet sex workers.
